Family photography in Philadelphia
Two hours, split about evenly. Half of it is portraits: everyone together, everyone looking, the frame your mother-in-law asks for a print of. The other half is your family being your family, unposed and unbothered. Both halves get real attention — neither is filler.
The newest ones
Newborn & first year
Newborn sessions happen at home, on your schedule, around the nap. No props, no baskets, no heat lamp — just the room you brought them back to, the people holding them, and the details you will forget faster than you think.
The whole crew
Extended family & grandparents
When everybody is in town, get everybody in the frame. Extended-family sessions run the same way as any other — the big group portrait first while attention holds, then the smaller combinations, then the part where the cousins run off and I follow them.
How it works
Pick a place that feels like your family: your block, a favorite park, your kitchen on a Saturday morning. Not sure? I’ll bring ideas.
Two hours, roughly halved. We knock out the posed portraits while everyone is fresh — the full group, the kids together, each kid alone — then let the session breathe and shoot the candid half. Kids melt down, dogs photobomb; all of it is welcome, most of it is gold.
Thirty professionally edited, high-resolution images — about half composed portraits, about half the in-between moments. You choose which ones go on the wall; most people hang some of each.
Kind words
From real sessions
“We LOVE our family portraits from Joshua. He navigated a very busy Sunday morning park, composed unique shots, and captured our family to a tee (including our 18 month old daughter — not the most compliant subject to work with!). The results were photos that are both artistic and fun. We’ll be returning for additional sessions!”
“We had Josh take photos of our newborn and couldn’t be more happy with the results. He worked closely with us to understand what we wanted from the shoot and he delivered exactly that. His documentary, photo-journalist style gave us pictures that felt natural and capture true emotions in the moment. It was great working with Josh”
“While the portraits came out beautifully, their ability to capture wonderful, genuine candids of us and our guests was truly special. Looking through the gallery brings back all the emotion, laughter, and energy of the day.”
